I can’t believe Annabelle is over a month old! It’s insane how fast time flies with a new baby. I wanted to get as many pictures of her before she grows up so I put together two looks for her newborn photos to photograph myself in our apartment. We had to wait for the perfect moment to take them when she was fast asleep so she wouldn’t squirm;) Luckily she woke up after the pictures in her tutu were taken so we had to take the second set when she was awake! She’s such a good baby that she lasted quite awhile without having to be picked up and I’m actually glad she wasn’t asleep for all the pictures because you can see so much of her character with her eyes open.
When I saw this handmade floral crown from Lucky Crickets on Etsy I fell in love! If you’ve seen Annabelle’s nursery tour video and blog post, then you’ll know Etsy is always my go-to spot for keepsakes and unique pieces that Annabelle can treasure forever. Lucky Crickets has so many cute hair pieces perfect for newborn or children photoshoots like this pale pink baby flower crown or this dainty headband. I was also dying to get a tutu for her first set of “professional” pictures (even though I shot them;) so I got this one that comes with a matching bow from Little Dahlia Boutique. It’s so cute on her tiny body!
A few tips for taking your own newborn photography…
- Be patient! These pictures literally took forever to shoot because we had to wait until the perfect moment where she was either asleep or not fussy!
- Shoot with natural light. We waited until 2pm when it wasn’t too light or dark out.
