Lately I’ve been really into contrasting textures. If I see anything that has faux fur or a metallic shiny material I’m drawn to it automatically. I think because it can really create a certain uniqueness to a piece that’s able to catch anyone’s eye. I’ve been lusting after these Sam Edelman leopard slip on’s for the past year, but knowing myself, I decided to hold off…one because they are a tad pricey for a Vans-Look-Alike and two because I didn’t know just how much I was going to wear them. Well, after spotting these Dolce Vita sneakers at Nordstrom Rack for a fraction of the price, I knew it was meant to be. Paired with my favorite quilted leopard skater skirt and a striped tee, it’s been one of my go-to outfits this Fall for casual weekends like this past one.

Speaking of this past weekend, Doug and I spent some time in LA with two of our closest friends browsing the shops at The Grove and eating at La Piazza, a cute little restaurant that has the best calamari. Seriously…to die for. You have to try if you’re ever in the area. You’re probably wondering why we drove all the way to LA to do this? Normally, we don’t venture into Los Angeles…partly because it’s forty minutes to an hour from Orange County and also because there’s plenty to do where we live. Well, we wanted to get a feel for the city because Doug just got his first job out of college on the Western side of LA near Marina Del Rey. Commuting from North Orange County would be an absolute pain, so he’s planning to move in as soon as we find a good place and I’ll be moving in with him after I finish up my last semester at the end of December! It’s honestly been a long time coming and thankfully, I’m only six months behind him in school. I couldn’t be happier that he landed his dream job in a field he’s so passionate about. Moving in with each other has been on our minds since the moment we met. We just had this certain chemistry that worked really well together and it only felt natural….except we were 19 and 20 years old at the time and knew nothing about the adult life(not that I do now even). Now I’m 22 and he’s 23 and we’ve come a long way from eating Top Ramen in his Fraternity house and dying over business tests (I’m almost through that second part). We knew it wasn’t the right decision to move in together when we both weren’t financially stable and didn’t want our first experience to be too stressful…so we waited a while, or until we were both out of school. You know those decisions in life where you don’t even have to think twice about your answer? That’s how I am with Doug. I just know with everything in me that it will all work out and I’ll be happier with him around. We’re both so excited to explore more of LA (we know nothing) and choose a place to live so he doesn’t have to commute. Now, it’s just the matter of deciding what city that’s the biggest step in our journey.

Any advice would be appreciated! xoxo
