After spending a weekend in Pasadena, Doug and I were eager to explore more of Los Angeles. Since Doug’s not originally from SoCal, he hasn’t really been able to explore much of the areas surrounding Orange County while being in college. Every year we take a trip down to San Diego (see more here and here), but that’s about it really. Coming from a little Japanese heritage, Doug’s always been intrigued with the culture, food, and way of life. I thought bringing him here would be the perfect end to Summer. I must say, it is comparable to SF’s Japantown in that they are both filled with ramen houses and little trinket shops. We stopped at what most people say is the best ramen in LA, Daikokuya (ya, I have no idea how to say that) and it was TO DIE FOR. I love how Southern California has so much to see. I’ve grown up here and still no nothing about the surrounding cities because they are so dense with culture. Can’t wait to come back and try sushi!
