Growing up I made a lot of memories in the mountains. For years my Dad would take my family and I hiking and because of those experiences, I’ve always held a love for forested areas. When Doug and I first met, we took a trip to visit his grandma who lives in the thick of a redwood forest in Northern California and every time we go up north, we always make sure to visit because it’s such a beautiful and tranquil place. You drive up this winding road and get to the most quaint house filled with antiques and the smell of pine. It’s because of those memories that we wanted our engagement shoot to be surrounded with the moments and memories we hold closest to the beginnings of our relationship.

When Doug and I stumbled upon Louann from Pearl Walker Photography, we knew immediately we wanted to book her for our special day. I knew from the start what kind of photography I wanted – light and airy, with a timeless, film-like feel to the photos and that’s exactly what Luann gives to each one. She captured our personalities perfectly in each shot and gave a romantic perspective into our relationship that we don’t usually share. I was hesitant about wearing white during our engagement shoot because traditionally, it’s only supposed to be worn on the actual wedding day, but I knew a white dress contrasted against the green forested background would be the best compliment and I’m so glad I actually went that way. Chicwish has tons of sweet, feminine dresses that are perfect for all of the events surrounding weddings and I’m sure I’ll be wearing more of their pieces again soon!
