At first when I tried this outfit on I thought there was too much going on, but I love how it turned out on camera! Taking risks is something I need to do more of on my blog. Patterned pieces are some of my favorite to wear because I can mix and match them with the staples I already have in my closet all year round. I fell in love with this matching checkered pair (Is it gingham? I’m not sure) when I saw it online because I knew I would get a lot of use out of the pieces when worn together and separately. Paired with this fun, cherry printed clutch, it completed the look and made it perfect for a summer weekend outfit. I’m always looking for eye-catching, statement clutches and this one definitely caught my eye as it was affordable and had a girly flair to it. I love straw clutches for summer because they seem to go with everything and if I could have a collection of them I would, but they definitely don’t transition from season to season like I’d like;)
Gingham has to be my favorite print of all time. I’ve loved it ever since I was a child. I can remember my Mom and Dad lying out a big red gingham blanket on the sand at the beach when we would visit almost every weekend. I’m also drawn to it because it reminds me of the 1950’s where women wore high waisted gingham midi skirts and dresses. It’s simply a timeless print that I melt over every time I see it. I mean, how to die for are these gingham shorts and blouse!? I have to restrain myself before my entire closet becomes this pattern!
